Manila, Philippines – Acapellago, the a cappella sensation and multi-awarded ensemble that popularized the “Tatlong Bibe” viral craze a few years back, recently introduced their newest member, talented vocalist Shaira Opsimar. Hailing from the theater world with an impressive portfolio, Shaira Opsimar steps into the spotlight as she fills the coveted slot left by former member Michelle Pascual. Acapellago, known for its great harmonies and electric performances, has consistently pushed the boundaries of a cappella music. Comprised of esteemed vocalists Ron and Bogart Laderas, Almond Bolante, and Joshua Cadelina, the group has garnered prestigious accolades, including Awit Awards, Ani Ng Dangal Awards, and several A cappella competitions won abroad.
Shaira Opsimar brings her considerable experience in theater to APG (Acapellago), having graced the stage in numerous acclaimed productions, notably in PETA plays such as the celebrated “Rak Of Aegis.” With her arrival, Acapellago opens a new vista of creativity and musicality as the group looks forward to reaching new career heights. Ron Laderas, the group’s bass singer and arranger, expressed his enthusiasm about their newest member, stating: “We are thrilled to embark on this new chapter with Shaira. Her talent and unique voice not only complement our ensemble but also infuse it with renewed energy.”
Echoing Laderas’ sentiments, Almond Bolante (soprano) emphasized Shaira’s charisma, remarking, “Shaira’s vibrant personality is truly contagious. Her presence enlivens our group dynamics and inspires us to explore new areas of musical expression.” APG beatboxer Bogart Ladera said that Shaira’s background in theater will definitely add to the dynamic of the group. “While our training is mainly in choral music, Shaira’s background will add a new facet to our group.”
Joshua Cadelina (soprano) further extolled Shaira’s vocal skill, affirming, “Shaira’s voice is a revelation. Her remarkable range and emotive delivery add depth and dimension to our performances,” adding “she will definitely enhance what we can offer our audience.”
The group agrees that Acapellago can now explore a wider variety of music and songs to add to their repertoire. Bolante, for one, is excited that the group can now tackle jazzier arrangements. Shaira confessed that she was nervous at first about joining Acapellago, but those feelings quickly turned to joy as she now joins a top-notch vocal group. “Since my background is different from that of the group, I’m thankful that they’re easing me into their style gradually. I do have to fit into their style eventually, but so far it’s been quite fun. And so far, so good.” As for what she can offer Acapellago, Shaira mentioned that more versatility in song choices should be expected from here on.
Acapellago and Viva Records initiated a search and Shaira emerged on top from more than a dozen other talented vocalists. Acapellago, with their vocal arranger JC Jose and manager Riva Ferrer, is currently in preparation to compete once more at an international a capella competition.
