Viva Records, a powerhouse in the Philippine music industry, had its share of honors at the prestigious 36th Awit Awards which celebrated the exceptional talents within the local music scene of the past year.
The night saw Viva Records artists clinching their share of the brand new Awit trophies as they clinched honors in various categories. The winners include:
Sarah Geronimo for Best Performance by a Female Artist for “Dati-Dati” as the incomparable Sarah Geronimo once again claimed the title of Best Performance by a Female Artist for her mesmerizing rendition of the Jin Chan written and produced “Dati-Dati”
Sarah Geronimo for People’s Voice winner for Favorite Female Artist (Text Voting) as her solid Popsters (fandom) have spoken, and Sarah Geronimo has been awarded the People’s Voice for Favorite Female Artist through an overwhelming response in the text voting category.
Acapellago for Best Vocal Arrangement. Acapellago’s Ron Laderas and collaborator and friend JC Paez took home the award for Best Vocal Arrangement, as the quintet proves once again their unparalleled skills in the art of a cappella.
ALAMAT for Best R&B Recording “Maharani.” The popular Pinoy pop boy group–rising stars of the music scene–secured the title of Best R&B Recording for their soulful track “Maharani,” as track written and produced by Thyro Alfaro.

Viva Music Publishing, Inc. also scored a momentous honor through Dangal Ng Musikang Pilpino Awardee in Rico Blanco – the accomplished music artist, rocker, songwriter, solo artist and former frontman of iconic 90’s and early aughts rock group Rivermaya. In his acceptance speech, Rico Blanco urged everyone at the event to keep moving forward with their craft even if its against what’s trendy, accepted or celebrated. Rico was gracious to share his honor with those who have helped him throughout his career, including Viva Music Publishing, Inc (VMPI) who manages the bulk of his iconic song publishing.
