GenZ alt-pop singer Rhodessa has broken into the Philippine Billboard charts with her track “Kisame,” entering at number fifteen.
Despite not hitting the Top 10, the song’s journey is remarkable. After topping Spotify’s Viral 50 Philippines and landing on playlists like Hot Hits Philippines and Top 50 Philippines, “Kisame” now holds Top 5 and Top 10 positions respectively. Chart Data PH revealed that the song achieved the highest single-day stream in Spotify Chart Ph history, surpassing “Paubaya” with 454.3k streams.
Since its March 2023 release, “Kisame” has garnered over 15 million listens. Rhodessa also ranks third in the Philippines’ most-watched YouTube videos.
For a 22-year-old BS Tourism graduate inspired by a Twitter fan fiction about Twice member Mina Myoi, this success is impressive. “Kisame” is on track to become one of 2023’s breakthrough hits from a new artist.
