Viva Music Group has reached yet another monumental milestone, standing behind the first two OPM songs to surpass 500 million streams in Spotify Philippines history, namely “Tadhana” by Up Dharma Down and “Multo” by Cup of Joe.
“Tadhana” by Up Dharma Down is the first-ever Filipino track to be named for this achievement. Released in 2012, it became the anthem for situationships that are described as almost-but-never-enough. Presently stuck in the orbiting phase with no clear intentions of commitment, the only thing destined in this set-up is meeting each other.
Shortly after, “Multo” by Cup of Joe became the second track to achieve this many streams, making it the fastest track to have reached this milestone, considering it was released in September 2024. This popular track sent the whole nation into a relapse state for missed opportunities with their person, and even on their hopes and dreams. Haunting listeners to this day, it sets a new record for the longest-running #1 song in Spotify Philippines’ daily chart. This also makes “Multo” the most-streamed OPM song on Spotify.
Recently, Cup of Joe released a stripped-down version of “Multo,” signifying acceptance of an ill-fated relationship, compared to the angst-filled original. Featured on the official soundtrack of the Cornerstone-Viva Films movie “The Loved One,” starring Anne Curtis and Jericho Rosales, the track highlights that healing is not constant and that hurtful feelings can still resurface at times.
Starting the year strong, the label giant dominated the charts in 2025, including with its newest chart-topping artists Amiel Sol, Earl Agustin, and Cup of Joe. These accomplishments only prove that Original Pilipino Music is very much alive and has the edge for global recognition.
