“The Juans Release Timely New Single ‘Prom’”

No Comments News

Local pop-rock band The Juans has just released their latest single entitled “Prom.” This is the second track from the boyband’s self-titled EP released under Viva Records. Written by band keyboardist/vocalist Carl Gueverra, “Prom” is a slow, thoughtful love song about one of youth’s most memorable and colorful rite of passage.

The song was officially launched February 13 when the official music video for the song premiered at leading music channels Myx and MTV Pinoy. Directed by Mike Cabardo, the video recreates the scenes at a formal junior-senior ball. Romantic as it is, JS proms are nerve wracking too, hence Cabardo’s story of a young man going “stag” — or solo to the dance in the hope of finding a partner there.

The band, which includes Guevarra, singer-rhythm guitarist Japs Mendoza, bassist Jason De Mesa, lead guitarist Jiad Arroyo and drummer Daniel Grospe, play as themselves in the music video, providing the slow music for the young sweethearts at the dance. The release of “Prom” comes just in time for the month of February, traditionally known as the love month, and as it is around this time of the school year when high school and college balls occur.

The Juans are on the verge of a breakthrough this year. Their introductory single, the high energy and positive “Atin Ang Mundo” garnered the group a solid and loyal fanbase that call themselves as “Juanistas.” The band’s first music video for “Atin Ang Mundo” garnered them a nomination at the incoming Myx Music Awards for Best New Artist which will be held at the new Kia Theatre at the Araneta Center in Quezon City on March 15, 2016. To vote for “Atin Ang Mundo” and “The Juans,” visit myx.ph.com/myxmusicawards.

(voters can cast their choice once per IP address, per category per day. Voting for the Myx Music Awards ends on March 13, 2016 at 11:59 pm).
